Mesothelioma-The disease which has no light at the end of the tunnel (my sad story)

Mesothelioma is said to be the most dreadful diseases known to man kind. Now here, it is very apt as it is said "there is no light at the end of the tunnel". This quote is adhesived as it leaves no hope for the person who has been hit by this grave monster. Mesothelioma generally effects the pleural mesothelial part of the human lung. It is mostly caused by asbestos fibres. People working in asbestos firm are more likely prone. When the particles enter the lungs through the upper respiratory tract, they make their way to the lungs and then settle in the pleural cavity and that's where they start their grave act. That is the target site where these particles are turned carcinogenic. It gives certain time to each individual. It is detected in various stages for each patient. But, though detected , it confuses the doctor and acts as an factor of misdiagnosis. It shows the smptoms of other respiratory disorders like T.B , Pneumonia etc.. so most of the time will be wasted in the misdiagnosis and thats when the clock ticks.

True Sad Story: I still remember, it was the mid may, my grand father was busy in endorsing and assisting events in our temple activities in our village. He returned from the village and was affected by cold and fever. We thought that it was just a common cold. Later, the fever turned out into much more dreadful weakening of the body. He used to be pretty active all the time, but that was the first time in my life i saw my grand father was striving a lot and was barely able to move actively. Days passed, and my grand father was suffering with some respiratory disorder in which he was unable to breath freely. He was experiencing severe pain in the chest cavity, restlessness, and lack of energy. He was then taken to hospital and admitted. He was assisted with respiratory support and glucose. It was almost all the end of may. Doctors were suspecting that as pneumonia as there was accumilation of water in the lungs. Many tests were performed and my grandfather was always under strong observation. It has shown nothing but leaving doctors in dilemma. This case was like a challenge to many doctors. My relative was the superindent of the Chest hospital and was ready to admit my grand father but my dad was not ready to take a big risk in wasting time. He approached many super specialists and superlative surgeons. My grand father was getting more worse and loosing his weight and apetite. He was always on the bed. He was discharged. Then it was June (some where around 2nd week). It was the time of my sisters marriage, and all the members of my family were pretty busy in the marriage arrangements and were kind of enthusiastic except my dad. He was always worried and a true apt son who was craving for the betterment of his father.
My grand father started devoloping complications related to the lungs and he was readmitted in the hospital. He was experiencing severe pain and heavyness in the chest due to the accumilation of water i the chest(edema). Doctors decided to put tubes into the chest cavity and remove the fluid which is often called as palliative therapy. But the problem was, the fluid was neverending. It used to ooze again the moment it was removed or drained. This made the doctors to fix the paliative tubes in the chest of my grand father. It was a very afflictive time for my grand father. I and my dad used to cry viewing this heart breaking scene.
It was the middle of June and thats when the preparations of my sisters marriage were fastened. I still remember, when my sister and her husband came to take the blessings, he said a heart moving word " Sorry dear, am unable to help you for your marriage". This still remains in our ears.
Doctors were totally puzzled with the cause. They have decided to operate my grand father. Very famed and specialists who were equipped with the supreme art of surgery were chosen for this. Doctors then came to conclusion that it was some kind of  " cancer". He was again shifted to the I.C.U . It was a heart squeezing scene for my father as he never saw my grand father in such a horrible situation. He was barely able to eat and drink seeing his father in such a situation.
It was 23rd and my grand father was getting closer and closer to the death. Body vitals were getting out of track. Finally on the day of 25th, it was confirmed as mesothelioma. In the evening, my parents came from the hospital as they wanted to take some break and then again move to the hospital. Dad was discussing about the list of hospitals and cancer hospitals for further treatment. And thats when we recieved a call from the hospital saying that " our hero was no more" . It was a heart bursting situation for the entire family. My father  was bursting into tears saying " Dad , I want you back".
Death has no mercy upon the loved ones. It had taken my grand father away leaving us tears. I lost my hero, who has teached my the state of well being, principles of life. It was a truth that was very hard to digest. I was in total dilemma and in the crysallis of thoughts. My grand father never used to smoke or did worked in any asbestos firm. But this never had an answer.
Mesothelioma is no doubt the most dreadful diseases in the disease index as it gives you no time to think and time to react. It directly shows you the demonic effect. When the time ticks, it shows you the doors of the hell.
I hereby strongly urge people to react real quick during such situations and save the life of the patients.
